This Weekend: Donut Dash 2016
By Allison Glatsky
I’m not too sure who needs an excuse to down some donuts, but if you do than I’ve got one for you-and it’s for a good cause. This Sunday, October 2nd , Donut Dash 2016 is going down. The event takes place at Schenley Plaza in Oakland and starts at 10am.
Participants will run two miles all together, and eat 6 donuts (or more if you’re feeling daring.) The proceeds from this delicious workout will go toward fighting ALS. All participants and supporters of the cause will help to support the LiveLikeLou foundation, established in 2011 to help fight ALS.
If you choose to opt out of the race, you can still head on over to the event’s website and give a donation. If you’d like to eat some yummy donuts and not feel bad about it, you can purchase tickets at http://www.pghdonutdash.org/tickets/. Tickets include a T-shirt, entry into the race, and even the donuts. There are individual tickets and also tickets for families and larger groups.
Sponsors include Dunkin Donuts, UPMC, Walnut Capital, WesBanco and more. People interested in sponsorship can contact the event directors. If last year’s event was any representation of this year’s, it should be a hit. Donut Dash 2015 was at Schenley Plaza for the first time and drew in thousands of people and over $109,000. Take advantage of this cool, breezy weather as you run through some beautiful scenery and eat treats for a cause.
