What’s better than live music? Well-not much, other than free live music. Pittsburgh is home to many great festivals and events and the city maintained their festive reputation by kicking off summer with the free summer concert series. When you combine cool summer nights, food, and good tunes, it makes for a great continuance of a Pittsburgh tradition. The summer concert series has been very popular in past years and is expected to be nothing short of spectacular this time around.
The South Park Amphitheater and the Hartwood Acres Park Amphitheater are two participating venues in hosting the talented bands and musicians that will be entertaining Pittsburgh residents this summer.
Various genres of artists are scheduled for the event-so weather you like alternative rock, blues, rockabilly, or country-this city’s got you covered.
The concerts run through early September and generally begin at 7:30pm. So grab your friends, some chairs and blankets, and your party pants to jam out to bands like Think Pink Floyd, Flow Tribe, and River City Brass Band. A complete schedule and list of performers is viewable at http://www.alleghenycounty.us/special-events/summer-concert-series.aspx.
So if you’re looking for something to do this summer with family or friends this month without burning a hole in your pocket, check out the upcoming concerts. Make sure to come hungry though-food trucks will be at each concert and arrive at 6pm. Music and food? That’s a recipe for an awesome summer night.
